A Wedding Setting to Remember

By Jake Rose Big weddings are usually to please the family and friends, to put on a show of sorts. They often can be over stressful. Picking a relaxing, out of the ordinary place to hold the wedding can both ease the tension of the event and bring something new and exciting to the life. Its a creative and personal way to approach a very common event. So, to those that may not want something inside a church or even inside at all, this article will help look at other possibilities and why they can be chosen. Not everyone likes to be traditional, and theres nothing wrong with that. Marriage is for two people, and they should get to experience the moment it happens however they want. Not everyone can afford to get away, so even local areas of a more natural or unique style could really provide something more to the wedding. It should, or to some degree, reflect the personalities of the individuals. Such options could include a lovely ceremony at the beach, on a lake, near a forest, in the mountains, or anywhere such as that. It can be inside and out, dependent of the weather and location. Even a different building, a different environment, can be refreshing to those that may not want the large church, elaborate wedding gown, dozens of bridesmaids and groomsmen that can be said as the traditional standards. There is so much more architecture styles out there, and so many that can bring true beauty to a wedding. One could find such a setting in local mansions, historical sites, and other treasures of art. The key is to do something different, fun, and personal. Another great idea for the wedding location is a more honeymoon approach. Dont just get married in a local area. Get married in a tropical or exotic location. This can be a refreshing way to get away and spend some time with the close friends and family you invite with you. It gives a much more relaxing feeling to the whole wedding. Its not the stress of everything go right for hundreds of people. Its not about finding areas that are big enough and lovely enough to impress others. Its about bringing a more raw and tranquil feeling to the wedding. These places can be a variety of locations. It all depends on personal preference. For example, some people might prefer a more tropical feel, maybe the Caribbean or Hawaii. They are often places to vacation and enjoy the beautiful weather and natural, tranquil settings. There could also be places like Australia, South America, or Asia that could meet such requirements. It all depends on the individual. Another good possibility is to take advantage of family ancestry and heritage. Embrace culture and find a unique and personal place to go for the celebration. This can be very enjoyable for to the family and friends invited also. A nice vacation and a look into something different. Such beautiful locations could include Italy, France, Greece, Japan, etc. Its very dependent of the individual, and therefore can be quite the experience. Location brings life to the wedding. It sets the mood, amplifies the moment with beauty and culture, and can say things beyond just the visual presence. Its important to find the right place for a wedding and reception. Hopefully more people will try new things and make the moment more personal than it already is. Secured Home Loans - Because You Need Cheaper Finance

By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Pamella_Scott]Pamella Scott If cheaper loan is what you are looking for as you must be then there are very few options other than secured home loans. Low interest rate, low overall cost and approval in time are some of attractive features of secured home loans. Utilize this cheap loan for which ever purpose like home improvements or paying for various expenses. There is no hurdle involved in taking secured home loans. The loan comes in your account within days as the process of applying and approval is kept very simple. The loan is designed in such a way that any borrower irrespective of his credit and financial back ground takes the borrowed amount home without many enquiries. All you do is present collateral to the secured home loans provider. Collateral may consist of any property of borrower like home or jewelry. There is no restriction that collateral will be home only. It all depends on the borrowed amount. If greater amount is at stake for the lender then he would like to assess higher equity in the property. Higher equity is usually in home. So, place your home as collateral for taking greater amount. For smaller amount any property will be enough. Secured home loans are provided at lower interest rate which is major attraction for loan seekers. Further reduction in interest rate is possible if borrowed amount is below equity in collateral. Search and compare different lenders and you can avail lowest possible interest rate of the time. As far as the borrowed amount is concerned one can take 5000 to75000. Even greater loan is possible on the back of higher equity in collateral and good credit history of the borrower. The loan is given for a comfortable repayment duration ranging from 5 to 30 years. Your bad credit never comes in the way of availing secured home loans. The loan is well secured by your property. There is no risk for the lender and so no need for a credit check on the borrower. In case there is a payment default the lender can recover his amount by selling the property of the borrower. Before making the loan deal, make sure that you have compared various secured home loans providers for lower interest rate and other conditions. After settling for the suitable lender, prefer an online lender for applying the loan. Online lenders process and approve the loan as soon as possible after verifying the information you give in the loan application. When paid off in time secured home loans repair your credit score also. So make sure that you pay off the monthly installments in time. Take every aspect like how much to borrow and for what duration in consideration before making a loan deal. Pamella Scott is an author who can certainly identify your kind of loan. An unprepared borrower might find it very confusing to get out of the jargon of loans in UK. A loans borrower/user demands for timely, reliable, accessible, comprehensive, relevant and consistent loan service. Budget Weddings - Decide What You Want First!

By Brenda Frezell Before you to too far with your wedding plans, decide what is most important to you! The theme for a shoestring wedding is "Simple but Elegant!" It's really hard to set a budget until you know what your priorities are. What area is going to mean the most to you? Is it that you want real flowers? Or you want to splurge a little on your dress? Do you want to focus your money on the food or would you rather have a scenic place to have your wedding? Makin' a List and Checkin' It Twice... First, make a list of everything you want to include in the wedding. Be specific. For example, don't just say flowers. List everything you want whether it's a brides bouquet, bridesmaids bouquets, corsages, boutonnieres, etc. Here's a basic list of items in most weddings to give you ideas: invitations
RSVP's
save-the-date cards
unity candle
aisle runner
pew bows
alter flowers
bridesmaids flowers
bridal bouquets
tiara
veil
wedding dress
shoes
slip
bustiere
earrings
necklace
bracelet
bridal purse
groom's tuxedo
flowergirl basket
ringbearer pillow
attendant gifts
wedding programs
officiant (minister, pastor, priest, etc.)
musician or organist
photographer
videographer
reception hall
food
drinks
reception decorations
place settings
centerpieces
DJ or band
wedding cake
guest favors
guest book
guest book pen
limousine
bubbles or rice Focus on What is Important Once you have this list of wedding essentials, set it aside. Then go back to it tomorrow. (Trust me on this one.) Look over your list. Decide what is most important to you and what you can live without. Believe me, there's lots of things that you can do without and no one will ever notice. For example, how important is that limo? Do you really need guest favors that people will just throw away? Do you need a special pen or will a regular ball point pen work? Can you borrow anything on your list, such as jewelry or a veil? This is the first step in controlling your wedding budget. This article is brought to you by Brenda Frezell of http://www.shoestringbrides.com Stop by for tips on how to save big on your wedding day. Big "Buts" Sabotage Weight Loss, Health and Fitness(Part 7 of 12)

By Dr. Leslie Van Romer Yeah, But I Have to Cook For My Husband Many of us women say we would change the way we eat if only we didnt have to cook for our families. I would love to change the way I eat, but I have to cook for my family. Preparing two meals? Are you kidding? I dont have the time. Between work and home, women feel lucky to just get the shopping done and one half-way decent meal on the table, much less two. There is no doubt that if you feel like you have to prepare favorite foods for your husband and/or children, then it is a bit challenging to change your own eating habits without trying to change the way your family eatschallenging, but easier than you may think. The hardest part about eating differently from your family is not the time and energy it takes to make the meals. The hardest part is preventing the prepared food that you also like, but are trying not to eat, from flying into your mouth. It actually takes very little extra time and effort to eat correctly, no matter what your family eats. A commonly prepared American dinner is a meat- or fish-centered meal with a vegetable salad (hopefullythey need to eat raw, fresh vegetables too) and side dishes of vegetables, including potatoes. Prepare the exact same meal for you and your family. While they are contently eating the usual fare, you will center your meal on the salad and vegetables. In fact, if you truly fill up on these foods, then you will have little desire for the meat part of the meal. If you do indulge, you will eat a smaller portion. Simple. Your family is happy. You are happy because you are getting your life in line with your noble intentions of adopting better eating habits for weight loss and maintenance, health, and fitness. Its true that your taste buds may feel a bit neglected for a while, but, if you are patient, they will change to enjoy the best-for-you foods. Career Search from Within

By Teresa Proudlove Seeking meaningful and fulfilling work can become a discouraging, confusing and overwhelming journey. Beware spending too much time looking for your answers outside of yourself. Ultimately, coming to know our right livelihood is the inner work of our whole being. In order to nurture our well-being and come to our right livelihood; it is best to frequently pause and halt the busy "doing and thinking" process. Pause, relax and trust. This runs contrary to the belief espoused within the employment industry of "looking for a job is a full-time job." Woe upon those who follow this motto. Follow the Voice of Your Heart If we push ourselves non-stop into our career/job search (or within our jobs/lives) how can we hear the voice of our heart? The small still voice within is buried under a constantly busy mind and hectic life - so applauded by our society. I am not advocating that we wait for manna from heaven to supply our answers. We need to do our research and seek the help we may need in order to make wise choices. However, I have found great value in pausing and waiting rather than trying to force a decision or an action. Try it. Through pausing and exercising patience much is often revealed to us. Also, by pausing, relaxing and trusting we are aligning ourselves moment by moment with our heart and our God. How do we distinguish between the voice of our God and that of the busy-mind pushing us along - often driven by the underlying insecurity of being human? As Robert Johnson, Jungian analyst and author of "Balancing Heaven and Earth," says; "How do we know if we are truly following the will of God? One knows instinctively; there is a sense of peace, balance, and fullness, an unhurriedness." From my own experience I would add there is a clean, direct simplicity to my small, still voice. Also, if the voice directing me from within is harsh, hurtful or driven by fear I know with certainty this is NOT the voice of my God. Finding work that is meaningful and fulfilling is not something we 'figure-out,' abdicate to external forces, nor something we push ourselves to do. Rather, it is more a process in time wherein we come to know and trust our deepest desires, intuition and clarity of mind. Coming to know our right livelihood involves our whole being. Seeking the Slender Threads Seeking the slender threads weaving our lives can also lead us toward meaningful work. What are the slender threads? "Being in a particular place at just the right time, meeting someone who steers you in an unforeseen direction, the unexpected appearance of work or money or inspiration just when they are most needed. Whether called fate, destiny or the hand of God, slender threads are at workweaving the remarkable tapestry of our lives." Robert A. Johnson, Balancing Heaven and Earth. Viewing my own life I see how those slender threads - chance meetings - patterned decades of my life. I see how some of my best career choices came about through some great benevolent force guiding me, connecting me to necessary people and experiences more so than my well-made plans or goals. All I did was get the information I could, put myself out there and then, follow the little steps revealed to me. If you are in job search or looking for career direction put yourself "out there" and be open to slender threads. Participate in free local employment programs - looking and listening for unexpected connections or clues. Pay attention to meaningful words that suddenly catch your attention or replay in your mind whether from a passing stranger, friend, dream, song, TV show, book title, or. Tell everyone you meet you are in career change, soul searching, job searchfind your own words. In a sentence or two let them know what you enjoy doing, what your skills are, what interests you or where you would like to work. Ask if they can think of a job title that might suit someone like you, or where you might apply for work, or who else could they suggest for you talk to. People love to help if we will but open ourselves to their generosity. Take little steps. Pause, relax and trust your small inner voice. Look for the slender threads weaving the majestic tapestry of our lives. Herein, follow the guidance toward your right livelihood. The Most Popular Supplements for Losing Weight Naturally

By Balajiee Sampath There are a ton of weight loss products on the market. In fact, over a billion dollars was made last year selling these types of products. With all the available options, its hard to figure out which one is best for you. Here are some of the most popular natural weight loss supplements on the market today. Hoodia Hoodia gordonii, also known as the cactus diet, is a powerful appetite suppressant. It comes from a cactus in South Africa that has been used by native Bushmen for generations. Its currently available in pill, liquid, or tea form. If you decide to take hoodia, remember to drink a lot of fluids; its a thirst suppressant to. Green tea This has become a popular item for weight loss in the last few years. It works by speeding up your metabolism so you burn calories and fat faster. Some people also claim that green tea can aid in lowering cholesterol. Green tea contains caffeine, so you should cut back on your other caffeine sources if youre taking it. Chitosan While many diet pills work to suppress your appetite or boost your metabolism, chitosan is used to prevent your body from absorbing fats. The unwanted fat simply passes throughout your system instead of ending up at your waist line. While many people have lost weight with chitosan, it can also cause problems in the digestive tract. One thing you must remember is that if a weight loss supplement works, that doesnt mean its safe. Many people think that because something is natural, its not dangerous. Not only do many supplements have dangerous side effects (think Phentermine and Ephedra); they are usually not rigorously tested so their negative effects are not well documented. Its always a good idea to check with your doctor before taking any supplement. While a weight loss pill may be effective, remember that they should be used in conjunction with diet and exercise, not as a replacement. If you do, your diet may just get that extra boost it needs to finally take off excess pounds. By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Adam_Jaylin]Adam Jaylin Looking for a business phone? Business phone for you will not necessarily mean a 3G smartphone but a phone that can carry simple business functions along with few fun features in a non ostentatious looking phone. Well, you can rely upon the Nokia 6233, a phone that looks like the perfect choice for you considering your requirements. To study it a little further, Nokia 6233 is a conventional looking phone with a candy bar design. You can view a spectrum of 256,000 colours in its TFT display that looks great on this business phone. This handset works on Tri-Band GSM network along with 3G support which bestows it with great connectivity all across the globe. Also, high speed data transferring techniques as EDGE, GPRS, Infrared and Bluetooth are also installed in it. With this device in your pocket, it is easier to browse the World Wide Web at a very fast speed. You can also send or receive E-mails via this handset. Nokia 6233 comes with a powerful 2 Mega Pixels camera that delivers crystal clear image quality. You may as well capture the most wonderful moments of life in the form of video clips in its VGA resolution video camera. This phone has an integrated MP3 player that plays your favourite numbers anywhere and at anytime. And if you are worried about the audio quality, fear not... for that's the best, thanks to its Stereo speakers with 3D effects. Also you can keep yourself updated with the latest happening around the world with its integrated FM radio. However, there are few complaints about this handset. First, it has no front video calling camera (considering its a 3G phone). Secondly, there is no LED flash in the high quality camera which looks like a major drawback in this phone. Thirdly, its integrated FM radio has no RDS support. The keypad of this handset is user friendly with a comfortable navigation, however, the complaints are about the side keys that are really stiff to operate. The above drawbacks are rather minor and do not make much difference with the functions of this phone. California Community Colleges

By Josh Riverside Founded in 1967 through legislation concerning State Higher Education, California Community Colleges today have the distinction of being the largest in the world. California Community Colleges are under the umbrella of a system providing 2-year public-institutions. There are 109 Campuses spread throughout 72 districts. Its course offerings focus on vocational, remedial, associate and certificate degrees. Units earned Community Colleges may be later credited should the student prefer to continue his education in the state college of in the University of California. Campus Sites are very scenic and conducive to academic learning. Students often get employed with the institutions themselves after graduating, where they help the community achieve its advocacy. This is actually the purpose of California Community Colleges. One advantage of these Colleges is its very local orientation. Another one is the wide-choice of programs to choose from. There are many reasons why a student may want to enter a Community College. For one thing, it provides the perfect conditions for students who are not emotionally, academically and economically prepared for University education. 80% of students in Community Colleges are employed in part-time jobs. Adult Education classes are taught at night in Community Colleges or at the Local High School. California Community Colleges also offer education in transition for Veterans of Military Service. In recent times, Distance Learning Courses are also offered, perfect for those who have commitments at home. The education is also very cheap. Community Colleges only charge 18 Dollars per unit and offer free use of facilities including Gyms and Libraries. Campus Life in Community Colleges rarely has any difference with any other college, although these Community colleges normally dont provide dormitories for their students. Annual Athletic events are also held for students. You may find that students in Community Colleges tend to have more colorful personalities and lives. The California Community College System, although begun only in 1967 is similar to the education given beyond high school (but not collegiate) in 1907. California Colleges provides detailed information on California Colleges, California Community Colleges, Northern California Colleges, California Junior Colleges and more. Are You Depressed? Or, Is It Something Else?

By Ken Fields There is a saying that depression is anger turned in on itself. That means the anger that you may be holding within your mind has nowhere to go and rather than being expressed outwardly, it is festering inside. Like undigested food that turns putrid, the anger becomes depression. You feel lethargic and dull, uninterested in anything. You may find yourself without energy and not wanting to get out of bed. You may find yourself crying, moody and irritable. Your sex drive may diminish to nothing. You may even feel suicidal. In an attempt to remedy the situation, you seek medical advice and may be prescribed any number of antidepressants. These medications may prove useful as they alter the chemistry of your brain which has been thrown off kilter by the repressed anger. But, the medications are only helping alleviate the symptoms; they do not remove the cause. There is another saying that underneath anger is sorrow. That means that our anger is really an expression of loss. Our anger is an expression of unresolved grief. This makes sense because the second stage of loss and grief is anger. The five stages of loss and grief, as outlined by Elizabeth Kubler-Ross, are denial, anger, bargaining, depression and acceptance. These stages are not necessarily linear. They may arise in various shifting sequences. Also, current research suggests that there is a sixth stage, the phase of "yearning." Yearning is a powerful feeling and may permeate the other stages as an underlying reality experienced as a hole in our heart - something missing which we desperately want. I would suggest that the fourth stage is actually sadness, not depression, which when expressed leads directly to acceptance. Depression itself is really not a natural emotion. It is a distortion of sadness and sorrow which comes from loss. The difference between sadness and depression is that sadness runs its course whereas depression can go on for years and years. Our loss can be anything: a person, a shattered dream, a material thing....And we may yearn extensively for that person or dream to return. Our life contains many losses and we are often conditioned to treat our losses in a stoic manner depriving ourselves of the natural response of grief. Our culture is also rather inept at understanding the energy of anger and how best to express it - to release it. Consequently, when we arrive at the second stage of loss, which is anger, it is often repressed giving rise to the festering which brings about depression. Anger at loss can quickly give way to sadness if we understand and allow the naturalness of sadness and sorrow. As William Shakespeare states through the voice of Duke Vicentio in his play Measure for Measure "...Yet in this life lie hid morethousand deaths..." suggesting the myriad of losses, or "little deaths" we experience in a lifetime. Even the natural process of maturation requires us to lose our childhood for adolescence and adolescence for adulthood. We must often lose our innocence for experience and our heart for love. Who has not experienced a broken heart? And who has not been angry over such loss when in fact sorrow is the real emotion so often disallowed by our culture. But a broken heart is an open heart, a heart that can feel. In the Judo-Christian system, our great loss is expulsion from paradise, from Eden. And from that loss has come our existence in this "veil of tears." Sorrow can be found around every corner. And yet, what we find instead of sorrow is hatred and violence. Even the happiest person must live in this world of injustice, inequality and suffering. There is a natural sadness that comes from living in this world. But that can be distorted into an unnatural depression as opposed to a philosophical compassion. Although depression is accepted as a bona fide ailment with an official diagnosis, anger, sadness and sorrow, even yearning, have no such diagnostic status. There are no prescriptive medications to alleviate those natural states. They must simply be lived through as part of the human experience. If you are feeling depressed, examine your life for the many losses you have suffered. If you are angry, examine your life for the many losses you have suffered. As you begin to touch upon these losses, let yourself feel the sadness and sorrow; cry tears. Release the pain. Let yourself yearn for that which you miss, whether it is a lost love, a recently deceased pet, the passing of a friend or, at the deepest level of our consciousness, the separation of our individual self from the Eden that certainly exists within the secret caverns of our dreams. Although you may be deeply saddened and you may yearn in agony, you will feel much less depressed and more alive as a human being. What To Do

By Jaco Els Ever had that perfect life when everything seems perfect yet you wanna die. I am in the situation where I have the perfect imperfect world. I have a daughter which might not be mine after 6 years of believing she is, I have a girlfriend who is so imperfect she is perfect for me. A son well he is only 8 months old and he seems to be the only perfect balance at the moment. My girlfriend doesnt know what she wants in life and with the internet at my finger tips it doesn't help me much why cause its not perfect. I discovered many months ago that everyone is the best advisor in the world "dropping" you into a world of dispair and not knowing anything about you. You have to sit and master your own self before you can master your abilities and knowing what you want in life. I am the first to advise someone as to what they need to do in life yet my life is not right yet. I sat the other day thinking to myself that I have the abilty to defy the law of gravity but I need to find a sense of balance between perfect and imperfect. I need both in my life in order to have the perfect BALANCED life. Everyone strives to find the perfect life but without imperfection you will never find it. You have to accept the fact that life offers challeages that can imperfectly perfectly improve your self worth. Once you have accepted this only then you will really know who you are and what you are worth to yourself and others. Now that I might have confused you and maybe even opened your eyes to another offer of plains life has to offer you may thank me someday or even think what a nut case, well the anser to both is thank you, why cause you have now made the correct assumption that evryone is different and that we all need to be like this in order to make the world perfect. Now that I have this off my chext I thank you for raeding and hope that you may learn from this and find YOUR balance. Discipline Medicine

By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Charles_Goulet] Charles Goulet Most writers suffer from a lack of discipline. The urge to procrastinate is strong as writing is agonizing work because it is done alone without support from colleagues, acquaintances, and friends unlike other occupations that take place in an office, a store, a factory, or some other location where people are present. Thus a strong incentive is needed. Of course this motivation can take many forms: self-satisfaction, honor, glory, recognition, and money. One, or all of these, can serve as the drive to write, yet self-discipline is difficult to acquire and maintain. Sitting at a typewriter or computer requires conditioning; usually this involves a timetable, a schedule, an agenda, and an objective. The subject matter is the first contingency to be decided, and then the next decision is the format: Will it be an article, an essay, a poem, a short story, or a novel? Next is the time table for the work: Does it require a definite time frame, hours, days, weeks, months, or even years. Once this is decided a schedule needs to be set up, then the daily agenda, and finally the final outcome. Even this will not eliminate procrastination. But remedies do exist to alleviate this condition. Probably one of the best antidotes is an assignment from an outside source: a newspaper, a magazine, a publisher, an editor, a wife, or a partner. Reporters appear to always meet their deadlines, article writers do most of the time, novelists often do, but writers who are driven by editors, wives, or partners usually do. If the assignment is followed by a deadline, it can be a great impetus to work. Most people, and that includes writers, seem to require a time limitation to force them to produce, to finish a job. Beginning is easy, but continuing to a finale is burdensome and tends to lead to dallying. Writers can think of more reasons not to act than most other people; gazing off into space waiting for the muse to strike, dreaming of far off exotic places, any reason not to act comes to mind. Another good motivator is the stack of bills piling up beside the typewriter or computer. If writing is the main source of income, it is a commanding inducement, especially if the wife or partner urges the writer to produce. The need to pay the bills can force one to sit and write, to complete the assignment, and to meet the deadline because the money is needed. So the greatest remedy for lack of self-discipline is an assignment, a deadline, and a stack of bills. If all three are present, there can be no better reason to get at that writing job and to finish it. Charles O. Goulet has a BA in history and a BEd in English literature. Selfish Men Are Successful With Women While Men Who Are Not Selfish Are Not

By Teddy Shabba Anytime you give someone else something that they want first without an agreement on what it is that you want in return, you are more likely to not get what you want. That is why men who give women what they think she wants, in general, are not as successful with women as men who do not give women what they want first. Men who are "selfish" and worry about their own wants and then the woman's; enjoy a great amount of success with women. On the other hand, men who put a woman's wants before his own tend to not get what they want and feel as if he has been used by the woman. It is important that men understand there are only two types of women in this world, givers and takers. When a selfish man meets a woman who is a giver, he takes and takes till either she can't give any more or he can't take any more. When a selfless man meets a woman who is a giver, he gives and she gives until someone simply feels as if they can't give anymore. When a selfish man meets a woman who is a taker, unless someone changes into a giver, nothing ever really develops there is nothing to take. When a selfless man meets a woman who is a taker, he gives and gives until she can't take anymore or he has nothing left to give. In the end, it isn't that selfish men actually have more success with women. Selfish men are simply more willing to take what women have to give and at the same time do not allow women to take as much as selfless men do without getting anything in return. Start Your Day With Special K

By Linda Robert You know that commercial on TV, when you hear Start your Day with Special K, and you see all the slim looking people jogging, drinking their natural juices and of course, eating Special K. Well, the media certainly knows how to play with our brains dont they? As if Special K will slim us down, will give us endless energy, will make us want to jog. B.S. I say. When it boils right down to it, its B.S. Those commercials are on TV because they know that a lot of us watch television and dream of being more energetic, more active, and slimmer. Those companies buy specific commercial time when we happen to be watching TV so that they can tantalize us into thinking that if we buy that particular brand of cereal, it will rev up our batteries. Truth is, that we can eat all the Special K we want, it wont make a bloody difference. By the way, for those that do love Special K, one cup serving of it with the milk is 219 calories, 34gms of carbs, 2gm of fat and 15gms of protein. We all know that it requires a lot more than just that brand of cereal. Its a mindset, an attitude, a belief, a desire, education and action(s) thats required to charge our batteries. And it starts with a willingness, a being receptive to making small changes, one step at a time, it has to start with something. So what is that something for you? A desire to look great for an upcoming wedding? A desire to feel better, to sit comfortably in the chair at work, to walk without feeling uncomfortable.... Whats required to getting you to be willing to and receptive to making a slight shift in order to bring about a positive change in your lifestyle? Even a slight shift will change your life. Wake up every morning with a willingness to add wellness to your day. Do what you have to do to make a slight change; read a daily affirmations, drink more water, make a date to meet someone, do some stretches, tell yourself that your handsome, sing, dance, get support etc, Do something even if you have to get up 10 minutes earlier and stretch. Planning a Wedding Abroad - How to Get Started

By Natalie Wingrove You have made the decision; you are going to get married abroad! Its all very exciting, the world is your oyster, but what do you do now? How do you start planning your wedding abroad? There are a number of factors you need to take into consideration before you begin planning your wedding abroad. The most important being why you have chosen to get married abroad and not at home. What are the main factors motivating your decision, for example, is it to save money, time, or eliminate stress? Or do you simply want to put your personal stamp on the occasion? Once youve established this turn your thoughts to the type and
style of wedding you would like and how much involvement you would like to have in its planning. Would you like a small intimate affair or a grand occasion? Do you want it to be traditional or adventurous? Your answers to these questions will have a bearing on how you
should plan your wedding abroad and whether you should use a Tour Operator, Wedding Planner or plan your wedding yourself. Each option caters for subtly different wants and needs and has both its advantages and disadvantages. If you are planning to have a small wedding abroad and do not want to spend your time worrying about the little details that go hand in hand with planning a wedding at home, and value for money and keeping costs low is one of your main priorities, then using a Tour Operator may be the perfect choice for you. If you would like to have a unique wedding abroad that reflects
your individual style and personality or be involved in the
decision making processes but not the hands on planning then using a Wedding Planner may be your best option. Alternatively if you think you would enjoy the challenge of
planning a wedding in a foreign country or break into a cold sweat at the mere thought of handing the responsibility over to someone else, then planning your own wedding abroad could be your perfect choice. Many couples have successfully planned their own wedding abroad and it is not as daunting as it may first seem. Once you have decided which option you wish to pursue be sure to investigate a good selection of providers. Properly researching the options and services available to you will provide you comfort in the knowledge that you have chosen the right partner or partners to work with, after all it is your wedding day and you shouldnt settle for second best. With careful research and planning you will be able to plan a
wedding that is unique, a wedding that is distinctive, a wedding that surpasses all your expectations and is the talk of the town for years to come. Do Plants Grow Better in Water or Soil: The Benefits of Water Gardening

By Matthew Harley A common question popping up among gardeners lately has been, "do plants grow better in water or soil?" In this article, the benefits of water gardening will be detailed to help you make the decision about whether or not to grow and maintain your flowers and plants using this method. There are a number of advantages that make water gardens better than their soil counterparts. The first, and perhaps most obvious of these, is that no soil is actually required to grow your plants! When you consider the inconvenience of acquiring and transporting large quantities of soil, you will find yourself appreciating this aspect of a water garden very quickly. Two very important factors should also be considered: firstly, a water garden's lack of soil means that diseases normally contained within the soil itself are theoretically eliminated; secondly, and on a larger scale, there will be no weeds and less insects present to inhibit the growth of your plants. These two things will lead to better results and, in turn, a better overall garden. Given both of these truths, you'll require fewer pesticides and herbicides to grow healthy plants. Should you intend to grow flowers or propagate your plants, the lack of chemicals and soil contaminants will keep you and your family feeling safe and happy about the beauty and longevity of the flowers and plants that you grow. Despite the fact that it's a water garden, the actual consumption of water will be less than with a soil garden. You'll have no need to keep a sprinkler or hose trained on your plants, which will save you money in the long run - not to mention that you'll also be less reliant on rain to keep your water bill low at the end of the month. A water garden allows you to better monitor the growth of plant roots as well, which is virtually impossible in a soil environment. Should you desire to transport your plants from one location to another, those you grow using hydroponics will stay alive so long as they are kept in that condition. Plants you grow in a soil garden are effectively killed as soon as you pull them up. In addition, you have the advantage of better space usage. Should you desire to grow a large quantity of plants for any reason, you will be better able to do so with a water garden - you can easily stack trays and containers on shelves or hang them in the air, thus freeing up area to grow more. All of these advantages are enough to make a water garden a better choice than a traditional soil garden. To grow better plants with fewer resources is a worthy goal, as is having beautiful flowers and plants for you and your family to enjoy. Methods of Nature Cure

By Grata Young The nature cure system aims at the readjustment of the human system from abnormal to normal conditions and functions, and adopts methods of cure which are in conformity with the constructive principles of nature. Such methods remove from the system the accumulation of toxic matter and poisons without in any way injuring the vital organs of the body. They also stimulate the organs of elimination and purification to better functioning. To cure disease, the first and foremost requirement is to regulate the diet. To get rid of accumulated toxins and restore the equilibrium of the system, it is desirable to completely exclude acid-forming foods, including proteins, starches and fats, for a week or more and to confine the diet to fresh fruits which will disinfect the stomach and alimentary canal. If the body is overloaded with morbid matter, as in acute disease, a complete fast for a few days may be necessary for the elimination of toxins. Fruit juice may, however, be taken during a fast. A simple rule is : do not eat when you are sick, stick to a light diet of fresh fruits. Wait for the return of the usual healthy appetite. Loss of appetite is Natures warning that no burden should be placed on the digestive organs. Alkaline foods such as raw vegetables and sprouted whole grain cereals may be added after a week of a fruits-only diet. Another important factor in the cure of diseases by natural methods is to stimulate the vitality of the body. This can be achieved by using water in various ways and at varying temperatures in the form of packs or baths. The application of cold water, especially to the abdomen, the seat of most diseases, and to the sexual organs, through a cold sitting ( hip) bath immediately lowers body heat and stimulates the nervous system. In the form of wet packs, hydrotherapy offers a simple natural method of abating fevers and reducing pain and inflammation without any harmful side-effects. Warm water applications, on the other hand, are relaxing. Other natural methods useful in the cure of diseases are air and sunbaths, exercise and massage. Air and sunbaths revive dead skin and help maintain it in a normal condition. Exercise, especially yogic asanas, promotes inner health and harmony and helps eliminate all tension: physical, mental and emotional. Massage tones up the nervous system and quickens blood circulation and the metabolic process. Thus a well-balanced diet, sufficient physical exercise, the observation of the other laws of well-being such as fresh air, plenty of sunlight, pure drinking water, scrupulous cleanliness, adequate rest and right mental attitude can ensure proper health and prevent disease. Winning at Post-Partum Weight Loss: Six Simple Strategies for New Moms - Part 2

By Susan Peach A healthy pregnancy almost always involves weight gain. But now that
babys here, youre probably wishing those extra pounds would hurry up
and disappear! While it wont happen overnight, these six simple tips
can help you lose that extra weight in a healthy way. (If youve missed
part 1 of this article, or want to read part 3, you can find them both at
http://www.mambomoms.com/articles.html) 3) Drink plenty of water. You will probably be very thirsty if you are
nursing your baby and you should drink as much as your thirst dictates.
But even if youre not breastfeeding, lots of pure water is important in
your quest to shed those pregnancy pounds. First of all, water has no calories, so when compared to other
beverages, its hands down the best bet in terms of weight loss. Diet soft
drinks and other low calorie beverages may have only a couple of
calories, but your body craves pure water in order to be able to function
properly. Besides, many people are concerned about the artificial
sweeteners used in these products, and caffeinated diet drinks may
increase fussiness in your baby if youre nursing. Go ahead and
indulge if this is something you just cant live without, but make sure
youre not doing it at the expense of your water needs. Secondly, water is helpful in the process of burning stored body fat.
Studies have shown that not drinking enough water can hinder your
weight loss efforts because the liver has to work harder to metabolize
waste when your body is not properly hydrated. And finally, drinking enough water will help you feel full so you eat less.
This is especially true if youre eating lots of high fiber foods such as
whole grain breads and cereals. The fiber in whole grains will absorb
water, making you feel full longer. Other liquids are fine too, such as juice, milk (dairy or substitutes), and
herbal teas. But do try to stay away from those empty calorie soft drinks
and anything thats labeled beverage, punch or drink instead of
juice. And even though they may be considered healthful, watch your
intake of pure fruit juices. Juices contain nutrients that your body needs,
but they are a very concentrated source of sugar as well. Whenever
possible you are better off to eat a piece of fresh fruit and drink water for
thirst. You should also try to limit your intake of coffee and caffeinated tea.
Doing so may help both you and your baby regulate your sleep habits.
Some babies get very fussy and hard to settle when mom is
breastfeeding and drinks caffeinated beverages. Drinking lots of water is one of those things that seems easy in theory,
but in practice it can be difficult to accomplish. One effective strategy to
help make sure you get enough is to place water bottles strategically
around the house. You can buy small plastic bottles of water by the
case at the grocery store or you can buy the refillable type of bottle that
you might take to the gym or on your bike. Put a bottle anywhere you spend time during the day: near your
favourite nursing chair (put several hereyoull probably use them all!),
near babys change table, on the bathroom counter, on top of the
washing machine, on the kitchen counter, on your desk, on a shelf near
the front door, beside your bed, on the kitchen table, etc. Each morning,
spend 3 or 4 minutes making the rounds collecting yesterdays empty
bottles and replacing them with fresh ones. This way, youll be more
likely to drink lots of water because there will always be some close at
hand. 4) Breastfeed your baby if at all possible. Depending on the age and
weight of your baby, you can use around 800 calories a day producing
milk for her. Besides the host of other benefits that breastfeeding affords
both you and your baby, quicker postnatal weight loss is one advantage
that all new moms welcome. Even if you are returning to work or cant
breastfeed full time for any reason, any amount of breast milk is good for
your baby, and as a perk, will help you use up additional calories for as
long as you are able to continue. In addition, breastfeeding releases natural hormones that help you
relax. Since the hormones released when you are stressed can
contribute to weight gain, it only makes sense to counter this with
activities that help you relax. Breastfeeding is a wonderful way to do
this, and you and your baby will also benefit in so many other ways. If
you need more information or support with breastfeeding, visit La Leche
League International on the web at http://www.LaLecheLeague.org In part three of this article youll learn ways to burn extra calories easily
and enjoyably without sweating it out at the gym. Youll also learn the
secret that savvy new moms use to effortlessly burn up to an extra 200
calories a day thats 2 pounds a month with no extra effort! Susan Peach is a retired La Leche League Leader, a dance and fitness
instructor, and mother to two teenage boys. She is also the creator of
Mambo Moms, a fun and gentle Latin dance based fitness program that
helps new moms get back in shape while spending quality play time
with their babies. Find out more at http://www.mambomoms.com Article Source: http://EzineArticles.com/?expert=Susan_Peach http://EzineArticles.com/?Winning-at-Post-Partum-Weight-Loss:-Six-Simple-Strategies-for-New-Moms---Part-2&id=12309 buying phentermine without a prescription

Find A Wedding Invitation That Is As Unique As You Are As A Couple

By Susan Ryder When we got married over nineteen years ago, my husband and I wanted to make our wedding as special and unique as we were as a couple. We not only wanted it to be a day that we would remember always, but one that our guests would also talk about for years. So we put a lot of time, thought, and energy into everything about our big day, including pre-wedding and post-wedding activities. (Well to be honest, I did most of the work, but he was a good sport, and like it or not, he had input on all of our decisions!) One of the first things we did (after we booked the church, minister, reception hall, and photographer) was to decide on wedding invitations. We went to a local print shop to look at their scrapbooks of possible invitations. But nothing there grabbed me so we went to another print shop, and another. I began to get very discouraged, and worried. How would we ever find just the right invitation? While the invitations we saw in the scrapbooks were fine, I knew theyd already been chosen by hundreds of couples before us. And they just didnt suit us as a couple. They were traditional and somewhat boring something I didnt think we were! What we wanted was something that would truly be one of a kind, and reflect our personalities and commitment as a couple. Just when Id about given up hope, my mother told us about a friend who designed her own note cards and did graphic design. My mother wrote the copy for the note cards, and wondered if maybe her friend would be interested in doing our invitations. Mom arranged for us to meet with her about doing our invitations though her friend had never done wedding invitations before, she was interested in trying. We met with her about nine months before our wedding to talk about what we wanted. We knew we wanted the invitations to match the colors of our wedding (lavender and silver) and we wanted to write our own wording on them. We also wanted a unique design on the front (our invitations folded in half) so she created several designs for us to choose from. We also were given several choices of fonts, types of paper, envelopes, and response cards. Our next visit with her included several choices of invitations that she had mocked up after talking to us about what we wanted. We were thrilled with all of them, and actually had a difficult time choosing which one we liked best, which was a wonderful position to be in! In the end we both gravitated toward one invitation fortunately it was the same one that we both loved best. And she then got to work on ordering them mass produced invitations, envelopes, response cards, more envelopes. She even did the invitation for our wedding shower, which matched the overall theme of the wedding invitations. She made about a dozen extra invitation sets for us as a keepsake, which I keep in a box in my cedar chest to this day. I keep one set in our wedding album, and I like to take it out occasionally to look at, usually after Ive received a run of the mill invitation in the mail to someone elses wedding so I can compare them. And every time I look at them I smile, and wonderful memories are called to mind. All these years later, it's much easier to have wedding invitations designed specially for you, as there are many more professionals who are in business to create them. It may take some time, effort, and extra expense, but Ive never regretted having invitations personally made for my wedding. Its definitely worth considering! Susan Ryder is a pastor and author. This article has been submitted in affiliation with http://www.Prye.Com/ which is a site for Wedding Invitations. Why Feathers are the Hottest Accessory for this Season's Weddings!

By Emily Tanner Believe it or not, feathers are making a serious comeback when it comes to wedding style and if you are a bride who wishes to make a statement, then base your wedding theme on feathers and you wont go wrong. The best way to get maximum impact is to go for a pure white wedding theme filled with bundles of pure white feathers. These can be used in bouquets, on the wedding cake, in hairstyles, attached to napkins and favour boxes and even scattered on tables! And dont think you can go overboard with feathers, especially if you are sticking to one colour, or maybe 2 colours depending on their shades. So, if you wanted to introduce some baby blue or baby pink feathers to the white, that would look fine. But, if your colour theme is green and you want to start adding orange feathers, this could end up looking gowdy. If your colour theme is more exotic in nature, best to stick to just one colour of feather and make this your only accessory no scattered petals or foil confetti on tables, keep floral arrangements simple and ensure shoes and jewellery are plain and unfussy. Feathers are making such a come back because a feather themed wedding really brings purity, love and romance back into a wedding day. By nature, feathers are gentle, soft and warm just like the perfect marriage. They represent peace and purity which forms the great basis of a wedding theme. Even as early as the wedding invitation stage, why not send guests arty invitations finished with a simple feather? This will give them a taste of things to come. Then, when it comes to the big day itself, its up to you how far you want to carry the theme. Personally, I feel that feathers entwined with floral bouquets, soft marabou feathers in hairstyles and plenty of loose feathers for use around the reception rooms is adequate. When it comes to feathers, less is most definitely more! When it comes to the wedding cake, if you are going for a pure and simple theme, ask for your cake decorator to ice the cake simply. Why not go for a pure white iced wedding cake scattered with feathers to match your theme? So, if your theme is baby pink and white, locate a scattering of soft marabou feathers in pink and white across the cake. Keep some spare for scattering around the cake table. Ensure the theme is continued on the guest tables and scatter more of the feathers around crisp white table linen. To Be or Not To Be: Low Carb...

By D. S. Epperson I get asked all the time, what do you think about the Atkin's Diet?. Well, as a Nutritional Bio-Chemist, my opinion and answer to that question would have to be a biochemical response. First of all, lets start with the foundation of the Atkins Diet. Robert Atkins did not invent the Low Carb diet. It was first administered over 80 years ago by John Hopkins Medical School and Hospital for the treatment of pediatric Epilepsy. It was then modified for the U.S. Air Force long before Robert Atkins picked it up to modify it once again. Our bodies run on glucose as a fuel. We can not store glucose and have enough for about 24 hours. When we have no food for 24 hours, the body turns to burn fat for energy and this is called Ketosis. By having a diet at 80% fat, and these are the right type of fats, some protein and almost no carbohydrates, the body remains in Ketosis and the pH of the blood can change, which can alleviate seizures, either the severity or the occurrence all together. It is speculated to work because the pancreas has no or low signal to release insulin to counter or escort the glucose into the cells. Keeping the insulin steady in the system will not trigger seizures in the brain. Like in all things, an excess can bring on side-effects. Some side effects of a Low Carb or Ketogenic Diet may include kidney stones and gall stones, some women may have menstrual irregularities. Because of the amount of fat and protein in the diet, some may suffer from Pancreatitis or inflammation of the pancreas, because there is an increase of fat, some minerals will not absorb correctly, so there can be decreased bone density and sometimes eye problems, sometimes there is a high level of fat build up in the blood, especially if the person is deficient in certain digestive enzymes. All these side effects can be very serious and that is why the Ketogenic Diet has always been administered by Nutritional-Medical professionals within the care of a hospital. Low Carb or No Carb diets can be deceiving, especially since the goal is to keep the blood glucose levels steady.
There are some sugar substitutes that are 50% protein, this protein can cause an increase of activity within the cell. As any diabetic can tell you, the use of Aspartame, which is 50 percent phenylalanine, can cause the blood sugar to go out of control. Phenylalanine should not be taken by pregnant women or by people who suffer from anxiety attacks, diabetes, high blood pressure, phenylketonuria (PKU), or preexisting pigmented melanoma, a type of skin cancer, this is directed by the medical and medical research community.
Aspertame also is made up of Aspartic Acid and methyl alcohol or wood alcohol. So, not only do you have the risk of toxicity because of the amino acid phenylalanine, you also have methanol which is considered poisonous even in small amounts. Methanol can cause blindness, brain swelling, and inflammation of the pancreas and heart muscle. Splenda or Sucralose has still other problems, it was not studied throughly before the FDA approved it. Under scrutiny of the biochemical community, especially after Aspertame was approved without long term study, the following has been noted, this taken from the http://www.low-carbdiet.co.uk/splenda.htm website. ...Few human studies of safety have been published on sucralose. One small study of diabetic patients using the sweetener showed a statistically significant increase in glycosylated hemoglobin (Hba1C), which is a marker of long-term blood glucose levels and is used to assess glycemic control in diabetic patients. According to the FDA, "increases in glycosolation in hemoglobin imply lessening of control of diabetes. Research in animals has shown that sucralose can cause many problems in rats, mice, and rabbits, such as: Shrunken thymus glands (up to 40% shrinkage) Enlarged liver and kidneys. Atrophy of lymph follicles in the spleen and thymus Increased cecal weight Reduced growth rate Decreased red blood cell count Hyperplasia of the pelvis Extension of the pregnancy period Aborted pregnancy Decreased fetal body weights and placental weights Diarrhea According to one source (Sucralose Toxicity Information Center), concerning the significant reduction in size of the thymus gland, "the manufacturer claimed that the sucralose was unpleasant for the rodents to eat in large doses and that starvation caused the shrunken thymus glands. [Toxicologist Judith] Bellin reviewed studies on rats starved under experimental conditions, and concluded that their growth rate could be reduced by as much as a third without the thymus losing a significant amount of weight (less than 7 percent). The changes were much more marked in rats fed on sucralose. While the animals' growth rate was reduced by between 7 and 20 percent, their thymuses shrank by as much as 40 percent. (New Scientist 23 Nov 1991, pg 13)" A compound chemically related to sucrose, 6-chloro-deoxyglucose, is known to have anti-fertility and neurotoxic effects, although animal studies of sucralose have not shown these effects.
According to the FDA's "Final Rule" report, "Sucralose was weakly mutagenic in a mouse lymphoma mutation assay." The FDA also reported many other tests as having "inconclusive" results.
Just how few studies currently exist on sucralose is an issue. Endurance News provides the following table illustrating this fact: Sweetener + # of Studies* Saccharin 2374 Aspartame 598 Cyclamates 459 Acesulfame-K 28 Sucralose 19 *Number of studies determined by MEDLINE search. In terms of safety, it is not just the original substance (sucralose) that one needs to worry about. As the FDA notes, "Because sucralose may hydrolyze in some food products...the resulting hydrolysis products may also be ingested by the consumer." I went into a forum looking for research information. There were many comments about Sucralose, most saying that if there was negative information about a product, that it was bogus because the FDA would have never approved it. The FDA approved the drug combination of Phen-Fen, which caused heart problems for thousands of people, some irreversible. Sure, it helped them to lose weight, but they didn't have their health to live it after words. Then we have Sugar Alcohols, like...sorbitol, xylitol, mannitol, lactitol, maltitol and others. Sugar alcohols are alcohols that are derived from sugar molecules. They are a carbohydrate, but according to the FDA, sugar alcohols have a very small impact on blood sugar levels and insulin release in the body. They are incompletely absorbed from the small intestine into the blood and as a result, they have a lesser impact on blood glucose levels. Some of the polyol that is not absorbed into the blood is broken down into fatty acids in the large intestine and sugar alcohols do contain calories, about three-fourths as many as sugar. Since they are incompletely absorbed by the intestine, over-consumption may produce a laxative effect in some people. Sugar alcohols can also act as "trigger foods," causing carbohydrate cravings or binges and there is some evidence to suggest that products containing polyols may actually defer weight loss efforts. In some people, sugar alcohols can have uncomfortable side effects, such as bloating and gas. Some diabetics also report elevated blood sugars when eating some low carbohydrate products, particularly sugar alcohol containing candies. So is the Low Carb diet or diets the answer for weight loss and glucose control. As a biochemist, I would have to say no. Because different carbohydrates absorb differently in individuals, you can not count on those types of food and calumniated absorption rates. The only way that you can tell what that food, and combinations of foods will do to your body, it to actually test the blood in 15 minute increments for a period of 2 to 3 hours. If your blood remains steady, then that food, that amount of food, or that combination of food will not be detrimental.
Along with many scientists in this field, I too have written the FDA to appeal for better labeling for the public. The Low-Carb label is deceptive and damaging for those who rely on blood glucose control for quality of life. To say that a product is Low-Carb doesn't mean that it is low in calories, will not affect your blood sugar, or is even healthy. As a matter of fact, most of the time's when something suggests that it is Low-Carb it is a product that should be heavily scrutinized and avoided. And as far as the new craze of Glycemic Index or Glucose diet. This is a very expensive diet to be on because of the supply of Glucometers, Glucose Sticks and time it takes to test, but a much safer method and more conclusive method of dieting in order to keep your carbohydrate intake under control and your blood sugar under control. As a scientist the only problem that I have with the GI or Canadian diet is that products and manufacturers who label a product as low, medium or High Glycemic Index do not have a standard of calculating those numbers. There are 8 different ways to calculate what a Glycemic Index is, and none of them are wrong. Some are more correct than others, but depending on what method you use, algebraic or Calculus and for what you are testing for, will determine if those numbers are correct. Don't get me wrong, Glycemic Indexing is much more correct than calculating net carbs or determining if something is Low Carb, because you have proven results from a field of subjects to tell you how the product will be absorb from true blood glucose numbers. Because this method allows you to see actual results from what was ingested, you can believe that you are eating right and maintaining better health. For the most part, people ask me about Dieting because they want to be thin and healthy, but being healthy is not just about this diet or that diet. Being healthy has to do with lifestyle more than anything else. Eating a diet of functional foods, healthy foods, non-processed foods, being active and interactive, and being relaxed and well rested has a lot to do with how your body will respond as far as health is concerned.
Do I recommend a Diet, not necessarily, what I recommend is a lifestyle for better health that is as individual as the person it is designed for. How do you do that? You need to not only look at your body type, but your genetic background, your personality and your day to day habits. You can work on your taste in foods first. To get away from the sweets, salt and processing, you can start by eliminating the processed foods out of your diet. Remember when you had home cooked meals from scratch, a salad out of the garden, made Jams and Jellies from the fruit off the trees in Grandma's yard? These tasted better and were better than those we buy off the shelf now days. It takes a lot of time, but the time spent in eating better will pay off in the retirement years. The next step would be to get active, exercise, go for a walk everyday, chase your children around the yard with a football, walk the mall with your daughters or your grand baby in a stroller, ride your bikes as a family, play soccer in the backyard with your kids, play a game of catch with your son, all these will improve your bodies response to some many things. Start slow with things, take your personality and your job into account so that it will be a lifestyle of habit and happiness, not a routine of forced misery. D.S. How To Make Your Business Stand Out From The Crowd

By Martin Russell No matter how small or how big your business is, many other people are in the same or similar business as you with few exceptions. And it is a sure bet that some of those businesses will fail and others will succeed. So what will make your business one of those that succeed? It is all in the way you present and run your business. What makes your business different from the rest and why should people do business with you rather than your competition? Make a list of the reasons you think makes your business stand out from the competition and what it is that makes your business unique. Then look through the yellow pages and local directories and look at the advertisements for businesses which are similar to yours. Again make a list of what selling points they are focusing on in the advertisements and compare those points with your own list. By reading and comparing those points, you will probably pick up on a few they have left out. You will also probably find that most will offer the same or similar selling points so that few of them stand out from the rest. How do you find out what would make anyone choose your business in preference to someone else's? It is a good idea to ask a few of your friends, family and your clients what they think to find out why people choose to buy from certain businesses. You need to talk to people who you know will give you a valid reason why they choose particular businesses. And, while you are doing this, it is also a good idea to ask them what they think about your business. Outline what you do and the service they can expect from you. Tell them what you think makes you better than the rest including personal, reliable service, quick or even free delivery, local operator or low prices. Ask them what they want and then develop your unique selling point from what they tell you. Your USP is what will make you stand out from your competitors. The one thing that makes you stand out from your competitors is you. You should have a business plan which outlines exactly where your business is heading and the strategies you have in place to get you there. That plan should include a marketing strategy with ongoing promotions campaigns which will maintain a steady flow of business even in the so-called 'slow' periods. Those plans will ensure the success of your business and keep you earning when your competitors are complaining about having no work. Your USP together with your itemised business plan will make you and your business stand out from your competition. And if you give your customers that little bit extra by over delivering on your promises, you may just keep them as customers for the life of your business. Your customers will expect what you promise them but if you over deliver by sending them a thank-you card, a thoughtful gift, a discount voucher, a telephone call to ask how your service was and if there was anything else they needed, they will keep coming back to you. This over delivery on what you promise is a great way to stand out from your competitors. And, as long as you maintain it, you are almost guaranteed the word of mouth advertising from those satisfied customers will bring you in more new customers and keep you ahead of your competition. Martin Print always tries to over deliver on every order with customer service and product quality. This ensures a steady flow of repeat and word of mouth business. Not to mention the joy of dealing with happy customers. Martin Print, based in Australia, have helped more than 2000 clients grow their businesses by generating more sales through creative print & design. Who Was The Hero Of Hanukkah?

By Dr. Mel Glazer Okay, all you scholars of Jewish history, the Rabbi has a question for you. What does it mean to be a hero? In the famous Hanukkah story, which we all know and love; the story of Judah Maccabbee and his family who fought and defeated the Syrian-Greeks and rededicated the Temple; the tiny little cruise of oil which was only supposed to last for one day but lasted for eight days; the piercing story of Hannah and her sons who died rather than profane the Holy Name of God; in that famous story, who was the hero? Who exhibited the most courage? Well, you could say that all of them were heroes, and to a degree you would be right. Judah and his brothers showed physical bravery against the raw physical power of the opposing armies. They fought well, they were brave and we remember them with affection and with pride. It is perhaps no accident that when we Jews, be it in the State of Israel or the Diaspora, schedule Olympic-type events, they are almost always called the Maccabi Games or the Maccabiah. We venerate the efforts shown by the Maccabees, and we honor them in this moving way. Hannah and her sons were also heroesthe sons refused to renounce their religion and they were willing to die as martyrs in order to sanctify the Holy name of God, and Hannah stood and watched as each one was killed.. She could have told them to give in to the Romans, but she did not. Our Tradition is filled with examples of those who chose to die as Jews rather than to live as apostates. The Ten Rabbis who were executed by the Romans and those brave souls who died on Masada remind us always of the need to protect our Jewish identity, no matter what. But my own personal choice for the Hero of Hanukkah is the priest who lit the menorah in the Temple KNOWING that there was only enough oil for one day. He knew this oil had to last for eight days, because that is how many days earlier Temple Dedications had lasted. He knew he did not have enough oil, and he lit anyway. How could he do this? He had faith that somehow, in a way that even he did not know at that time, somehow a miracle would happen and there would be enough oil. The easiest thing for him to have done would be not to light the menorah, and probably no one would have criticized him. But he did not take the easy way out. He had faith, he lit the menorah, and the miracle happened.
Miracles happen to those who invite them to happen. In the time of the Maccabees, and in our own time as well. Happy Hanukkah! 5 Warnings Your Career Is Off Track

By Tony Jacowski You may be breezing along in your current position, when suddenly trouble starts brewing and your career is knocked off-track. There are ample signals that warn you beforehand, if you pick them up. Most people who are either stuck in the wrong jobs or suffering a job loss are mostly there because they failed to recognize the signals before it was too late. To tell the truth, a good number of them later realize that the trouble they are in is of their own making. How do you know when your career is in trouble or at least off track? One needs to pay attention to certain signs. Here are 5 warning signals that will alert you. 5 Signals That Alert You When Your Career Is Off Track Warning # 1 Sudden depression and economic downturn. Although a rarity, economic downturns can be a strong signal for you, especially when you are in such industries as telecommunications, travel, hospitality, etc. Although the economy affects other sectors like healthcare, manufacturing, etc. equally, mass layoffs are limited unlike in other sectors. The reason is clear; consumers shun the market at times of trouble, which they cant do with same vigor with the latter sectors, which fulfill customer needs. This was seen during the depression of the 1920s, post lunar exploration of 1964, and recently after 9/11 fallout. Warning # 2 Your industry is passing through a lull. The best example that fits here is that of telecommunications and software engineering following the 9/11 fallout. First, WorldComs fortunes dwindled and the company went into a total tizzy. A few top executives were not available while the situation went from bad to worse. Whatever the reason could be, the industry as a whole suffered instead of gaining from the loss of one big player by default. Job losses were to the tune of tens of thousands. Those who saw the signs and sensed what was coming very early took advantage of whatever opportunities they could. Warning # 3 The companys finances are dwindling. Although not everyone is directly connected to finance management, it inadvertently affects everyone. Bad management, lost or declining sales and poor quality of service are a few things that result in a financial emergency. This state of affairs, albeit slow, should not be missed. Important signals like a sudden drop in workload, a blanket application of cost cutting measures, sudden concern over petty costs and firing of sales managers see alert employees chalking out their future steps. Warning # 4 Mergers and acquisitions are no less dreadful as far as employees are concerned. When two corporations merge, management looks forward to consolidate the benefits by downsizing any overlapping resources. Intelligently, employees must look for signals like changes in the top executives, big promises by management, rhetoric on upholding shareholder values, etc. The effects of this spread quickly. Warning # 5 Other signals like ignoring you for activities (meetings etc) that previously required your attendance, a sudden increase in work pressure, ignoring your suggestions & job performance and dampened appreciation for your accomplishments show that you have fallen out of your bosses (or at least the companys) favor. Your salary increments and bonuses become pale shadows of their former selves. Once you sense the signals, you need to pay attention to them instead of just brushing them aside. Start planning you next steps immediately to avoid being caught off-guard. The company is doing what is right for them. Protect your career and do what is right for you.
