How to Write Great Product Demonstrations or Training Scripts

Therefore, it is imperative that you find ways to help your customers understand how to get the most of your products or services. Depending on your product or service, two valuable tools for promotions and sales are product demonstrations and training sessions. Think of how many Ginsu knives, cookware sets, and mops have been sold, just because the audience members saw how to use the products. The reason why home shopping networks are so successful is because the hosts demonstrate the products and show their enthusiasm for them. People dont like to admit what they dont know, but if you show them without insulting them, they will buy and use your product or service. The first thing to determine is, Do you need actual training or a demonstration? A demonstration shows the audience how to use a product, while a hands-on-training session, gives the consumer an opportunity to tryout the product or service. Training sessions are more appropriate for big ticket complicated items while simpler products only need demonstrations. Next, decide the most important features of your product or service that you want to demonstrate. How does it improve lives and solve problems? Often your sales people will know what features sell the best. Or you may find the features that when shown, change customers objections to the product or service. For example, a broadband Internet service provider discovered that when their customers saw the value n high speed services, such as music downloading, photo sharing and chat, they were more likely to upgrade to high speed services. Then you need to determine what style the demonstration will take. Will it be light or serious? How can you bring creative elements into the demonstration? What will best illustrate the emotional wow sensation of the product or service? What style best works for your demographic? You also have to establish a framework of analogies to work from for your demographic. For years, I taught senior citizens how to use computers. No one wanted to teach them. The training was based on framework they understood. I had to explain how the typewriter evolved into word-processing. Then, explain how word-processing transformed into desktop publishing. I also gave a history of the personal computer and the Internet because this demographic was not following the development of computers at the time. When I wrote a script about HDTV, I needed to show the aspect ratio difference between HDTV and a standard TV, the HDTV wide screen was related to the wide screen in movie theatres and panoramic views. Another helpful device to use within in your product demonstration or training is Good Cop/Bad Cop, one demonstrator is the nay-sayer who gets won over by the good guy. Remember that in all good teaching uses the rule of three. A student or viewer needs to see and hear a concept three times before it is learned and mastered. The teacher/demonstrator has to find ways to repeat the concept without being condescending or boring. The demonstration/training will be more effective if it is entertaining. This is where you can have fun with the product or service. Techniques such as parody, dramatization, music, and viewing from the inside out will add depth to the presentation. I once had an editor tell me, After you do all your research, the story writes itself. This axiom is often true for demonstrations. After I figure out the objective, interview the sales and product manages, use the product or service, research the demographic and understand the true meaning of the service/product, I can hear the script come to life. The more questions I ask, the better the script becomes. Product and service demonstrations/training are valuable tools to get and retain customers. They are very cost effective and bring your product or service to life enriching the lives of your customers. Human beings have for centuries learned by telling each other stories around the fire. Healthcare Staffing Funding - How To Improve Your Cash Flow (Part Two Of Three)

By Philip Cohen In my last article, I briefly introduced accounts receivable factoring as a viable financing option for nurse staffing agencies who are just starting up or who are in the midst of a rapid growth period. Rather than waiting weeks or months to be paid, a healthcare staffing company can receive cash immediately by selling its invoices at a discounted rate to a factor. I went on to explain the three main categories of factors: general factors, who are large and operate nationally, accepting clients from a multitude of industries; geographic factors, who specialize in funding clients who are proximal to the factor's location; and industry-specific factors, who base their clientele around one specific business niche (i.e., healthcare staffing financing). PRN Funding is an example of an industry-specific factor because we focus on healthcare staffing invoice funding, namely for medical staffing agencies, medical transcription services, medical coding companies and medical supply businesses. After deciding which kind of factor would be the best fit for your agency, the next logical question is, "How much does healthcare staffing factoring cost?" Before jumping in blindly and talking numbers, it's a good idea to have a general understanding of how the factor's fees are structured. Allow me to elaborate. Discount Fees. When a factor advances you money on your receivables, they are actually making a legal purchase of your invoices at a discounted rate. This discounted rate can be a one-time flat fee, or it can vary depending on how long the factor owns the invoice. It's important that you know upfront how the factor determines its fees to make sure that you are getting the best deal for your invoices. And of course, it all boils down to how your own company operates, how long it takes for your customers to pay your invoices and what you feel comfortable paying. In general, discount fees can be affected by a number of things, including the length of the contract to which you are willing to commit, the average monthly purchase volume of your account, the average size of your invoices, the number of account debtors (customers) you do work for and the credit quality of those debtors. Advance Rates. You should also consider the factor's advance rates. Advance rates are the amount of money that a factor advances you up front upon purchasing your invoices. Currently, the industry norm is 80 percent. Of course this rate can vary, and oftentimes factors determine their advance rates on a client-by-client basis. Most factors ask that you provide a current accounts receivable aging report during the approval process to see how long it takes for your customers to pay and if they generally pay in full. Quick payments and payments made in full will increase your chances of having a higher advance rate. In addition, some factors will increase the advance rate over time as your business grows and the factoring relationship solidifies. On the other hand, if your customers routinely short-pay or take longer to pay, your advance rate most likely won't be as high. For example, some hospitals insist that all of their employees take a 30-minute lunch break. Even if a temporary nurse works through his/her lunch break, and the nurse staffing agency ends up paying him/her for that 30 minutes, the hospital will not pay for that portion of the invoice. Another example occurs when you sign a contract with a hospital that is net-60, and the hospital is notorious for paying 30 days late. Since it becomes harder to collect on invoices the longer they go unpaid, a factor that knows your clients pay in 90 days will not feel as comfortable advancing you a high amount on your invoices. Of course there are both positives and negatives for high and low advance rates. For example, a factor advancing 95 percent upfront will probably charge higher discount fees, but you have the benefit of receiving funds for the entire invoice amount. On the other hand, a factor that advances 75 percent will charge lower discount fees, but you won't be able to receive as much money up front. Extra Fees. I should mention that there are also numerous other possible "extra fees" a factor could add into their fee structure. Some examples of these fees include application, origination and due diligence fees. These charges are often to cover the costs of running credit and background checks on your customers, compiling and shipping legal documentation and putting a lien in place once you become a client. Other factors will add in administrative fees for postage, long-distance phone calls, or computer time. Then there are fees associated with funding procedures, identifying set prices for a same-day wire to your bank account or an overnight transfer of funds. Most of the remaining costs can be bunched into the category of "penalty fees," for misdirected payments, aged invoices or an early termination of your contract. Although advance rates and discount fees tend to be the main concern when business owners are shopping factors, I hope this article has helped you realize that there are other types of fees that may or may not be tacked onto your healthcare staffing funding deal, depending on the factor. In addition, like I stated in the previous article, depending on the volume your company is invoicing on a monthly basis, where you are located and how much of a niche you have in the medical staffing industry will all play a crucial role in your overall decision-making process. Cutting the Cord

By Samantha Stevens Sometimes, after a relationship has ended, many of us have problems letting go. A lot of my clients often complain of feeling haunted or even possessed by the dearly departed (who probably isn't even thinking of you at all and is busy happily running away with his or her new partner.) It's like the person has left an indelible imprint upon your heart and many of us feel that we can't go on until the ex returns. The energy of the ex might be manifesting itself in all sorts of ways --- in what you perceive to be little omens or reminders that occur in every day life (such as a phrase or song lyric) or even as a visitor in your dreams. There are all kinds of cures for this phenomenon, (everything from burning bundles of sage to clear the room of the ex's vibe to throwing out every single reminder of him or her, including the bed.) Yet before you ditch the Sealy Posturepedic, I suggest you try this little exercise called "Cutting The Cord." The idea behind this is that whenever we connect to someone we connect to him or her at the point of our solar plexus, the area just below your diaphragm. When we first meet someone and fall in love, we spend a lot of time building up this energy which lightworkers say looks like a rope of light that connects two people. However, even after one person disappears, the rope can still remain. Often, the person who is left behind spends a lot of time fortifying that rope with his or her own psychic energy in an attempt to bring the person back. The ex can compare to a psychic vampire, who is gleefully sucking back the energy that the dumped person is sending them. It doesn't even matter if you are sending them bad thoughts or resentment. That energy is often translated to them in the purest form of astral energy -- and they use it to transmute and feed their new relationship. So in order to prevent yourself being sucked dry by the psychic vampire, oops I mean the ex, I suggest you try this: Lie down on the bed, breathe deeply and become as relaxed as you can. Now picture the other person and the cord of light that you created when you thought the both of you would be connected for all eternity. Visualize that cord as best you can and examine it. How thick is it? What colour is it? What is it made of? Now choose your weapon. What will you use to cut this cord? Do you need a knife or is the connection so strong that it can be broken only by hacking at it with a machete? If a machete doesn't work, try a buzz saw. My favourite is a huge pair of golden scissors. Now, in your mind's eye, snip, hack chop, sever ... do whatever you have to do to cut the cord. Picture the other person floating away from you like a helium balloon let loose in the sky ... and smile and wave "bye bye!" Oddly, one of the side benefits (or drawbacks depending on how you look at it) is that the other person senses the detachment. Like a greedy psychic vampire, they will come back to see where their source of energy has gone. So not only does this exercise your astral health, but it often brings the ex back.
