Fat Loss Follies The 3 Most Common Workout Blunders

By Brad Howard As we approach the New Year, people from all walks of life begin to find themselves and commit to getting in better shape. However, a grand many of these people wont make it to February. As a country, weve been conditioned to think that there is an easy way to everything but in fact, this might be the biggest misconception ever. Therefore, Ive assembled the 3 most common reasons that most people fail when it comes to radically improving their lifestyle. The 3 Most Common Pitfalls No Burning Desire This is number one by far. Of all of the people that quit on themselves, this reason alone stands heads above every other reason for failure. People just dont know why they are even attempting to get in better shape. Without a why, there can never be a how. In my experience, individuals that have had life changing experiences (heart attack, divorce, etc) seem to have a more defined why and thus, nearly always achieve better results. Do yourself a favor and think of your ultimate reason why. Does it involve your kids? Does it involve meeting the person of your dreams? Or, does it just involve feeling better about yourself? Heres an easy solution: think of the most painful situation you can think of that revolves around you NOT getting in better shape thats your best lever. Lack of a defined goal Most people approach fitness in a rather haphazard way. Instead of focusing on changing one small thing, they try to focus on many things at once. Pick one goal. Make it small. Instead of I want to lose 50 pounds, lets concentrate on losing 5 lbs first. Instead of saying I want to stop smoking, eat better, exercise, etc, focus on just one thing. Another thing, eating better is not a defined goal. Its not measurable nor is it specific. Dont just say I want to be in better shape, say I want to lose 2 inches off my waist. Be specific and laser in on one goal at a time. No Consistency A simple plan performed consistently will get you results. The consistent person wins this race. Put in the time, its not going to happen overnight but the person that exercises on a regular basis will get to take advantage of compounding. Or course, you understand the power of compound interest when it comes to retirement. Well, exercise works in much the same way. As you can see, the process of getting in shape starts and ends in the mind. What you are doing will never be as important as why. Figure out your why, map out one specific goal, and be consistent, and youll be where you want to be in no time.
